New York: W Times Square to Offer Limited-Edition Tote for Fashion's Night Out
W Hotels pride themselves on their fashion forward ways as evidenced by their new W Resort Collection which will debut during New York's Fashion Week but that's not all they've got up their three-quartered sleeve this Fall.
For Fashion's Night Out on September 10, W Hotels asked fashion illustrator Danny Roberts, of igor + andre fame, to create a limited-edition tote bag which will be available with any purchase at the store at W Times Square from 5 to 8pm.
The first 100 customers who get the cute tote can also have Danny sign their bag and one lucky guest will be chosen to win a personal portrait sketched by Danny. We've
New York: Last Call For The Edison Hotel's Rum House in Times Square
Following a tip from fellow travel writer Paul Brady, we found ourselves perched at the bar of Rum House on Saturday nightto escape the Times Square crowds but also to bid farewell. The old-timey diveone of the few refuges from overpriced theater joints and overpriced hotels in the neighborhoodis closing on September 26.
According to the folks at Eater NY, the bar lost its lease earlier this summer. A bartender told Brady that it will be replaced by "another bar. More expensive" but the scene was too somber during our visit for us to ask any further questions about the future. Our bartender spent a lot of time reminiscing with a group of regulars in the
New York: Liking the Wallpaper in the Captain's Cabins at The Jane NYC
Everyone knows about the tiny cabins at The Jane, but what about the big Captains Cabin rooms that come with beds big enough for two and their own bathrooms? We hadnt seen one before, so when we stayed at the hotel last week, we grabbed some respite from our own cupboard cabin by touring one of the big ones: room 218.
This room had a/c properly installed (all the small cabins, and some of the Captains cabins too, have individual units instead, which can be pretty noisy). It also had a nice big bath, a terrace and a miniature library in the shelves by the bed.
New York: Michael Achenbaum Dishes On His 'Urban Resort', The Gansevoort Park
Hurrah! Hotel Gansevoort's uptown sister, Gansevoort Park Avenue is finally open. And while we've already had a poke around the guest rooms and the rooftop bar and pool, we decided to get the lowdown on what the hotel offers that no other NYC hotel can--straight from the hotelier himself.
So settle in and let Gansevoort Hotel Group's Michael Achenbaum tell you all about his new baby ...
London: Four Seasons London Ditches Fussy Florals for a Sexier Boudoir
Back in May, we heard that the Four Seasons London was undergoing a drastic renovation--so drastic that it would look completely different than it did before. That meant not only would the 192 rooms get a complete overhaul but that the hotel would add a rooftop spa overlooking Hyde Park as well as a new bar and new restaurant.
Then just the other week we got a little bit more on the hotel's exterior progress but we wondered if the hotel would still open on time. But it looks like the hotel is confident it will.
West Hollywood: Lindsay Lohan's First Hotel Stop After Rehab? The Chateau Of Course
As Jennifer Aniston can attest, old hotel habits die hard. Lindsay Lohan has only been out of rehab less than a week but she's already making her way around town. And her first hotel stop out of rehab? The Chateau Marmont of course. At 11pm at night. Radar Online reports:
Lindsay drove to hotel in a brand new $150,000 Maserati Gran Turismo, with her friend Eilat Anschel arriving there at about 11 pm. They stayed for just over two hours, hanging out in the lounge with other friends.

Beijing: The Opposite House Says It's Thyme For a Cocktail!
Who's thirsty? It's time for another installment of our Summer Cocktails series. All summer long we'll profile fun new summer drinks served at hotels around the world. Got one we should know about? Send us the recipe with a photo of the drink. Otherwise, enjoy and @reply us when you're wasted!
Man, are we going to miss Summer Fridays. It's our favorite part of the week, not only because, well duh, it's Friday, and duh, it's time for a cocktail or tenno, we're also going to miss them because oh, we do love making all these bad puns that seem to come free of charge with our Summer Cocktails.
New York: The Sweet Sight of Dessert At Wall & Water
After a long, leisurely dinner in one of the private dining rooms at Andaz Wall Street's Wall & Water last night, we couldn't even fathom the concept of dessert. We'd already sampled plates of charcuterie and cheeses, and feasted on Roasted Young Chicken with peas, fava beans and morels stew, Grilled Wild Striped Bass with broccoli raab and a delicious Grilled Skirt Steak with red onion, green tomato salad and baked sweet potato ("so much better than real potatoes," according to one person in our party.)
We know, right? Totally stuffed! But then we saw this vision in a row of ramekins. A dainty lineup of six different desserts which had us forgetting we were full in
Munich: A Room for the Night and a 'Dirndl' for Oktoberfest at Munich's Charles Hotel
Boobs. That's what the German Oktoberfest celebrations is all about, right? Wrong, but we're at least close. On September 18th, Munich will tap the first kegs to kick off the month-long festival of beer, brats, bretzeln (pretzels) and yesboobs too. You see, the Bavarian traditional costume for women is a Dirndl, a highly decorated peasant dress of sorts, which is typically specially made and heavy on the cleavage-baring.
If you're thinking of heading to Munich for Oktoberfest this year and you like the look of these Dirndls, the the Rocco Forte Collection property The Charles Hotel at the center of the city has a deal for you: their "Dressed for Oktoberfest" package.
New York: Is This It For Hotel Pennsylvania? Skyscraper Gets The Go Ahead
Is that the death knell for the Hotel Pennsylvania we hear? Yes, we know, we've braced for this before, but this latest turn of events sounds to us like the end is nigh: the City Council has approved Vornado Realty Trust's plans for a 1,200-foot office tower for the site.
As The New York Observer reports, a Vornado spokesman says the building would be an "outstanding addition to New York's iconic skyline" but many New Yorkers disagree. The loudest opposition is coming from Empire State Building owner Anthony Malkin, who worries about the new skyscraper stealing thunder from his own.
Paris: Another Paris Hotel Is Open, And It's Priced Tres Bien
Last week we were mulling over the new Hotel Athenée in Paris, this week our attentions are focused on another new property in la cité of light.
hLike the Athenée, the Marais Bastille is a new hotel opening in an old property of the same name (it used to be a Best Western). Its been decorated by Michel Jouannet, who also did the cute Villa Madame in Saint Germain, and from the website, its looking lovely bright primary colors mixed with white walls and outré art on the walls.
Atlanta: Boy Gets Sick After Finding Condom at Wyndham Garden Hotel in Atlanta
We know it's Thursday and you've probably had a rough week and hearing about the latest grossest thing found in a hotel room is not what you want to hear right now. But you are going to want to hear this story, if only to make sure that on your next hotel stay you triple-check that the room is clean.
A family staying at the Wyndham Garden Hotel in Atlanta checked into the hotel late at night on Aug. 1 and noticed that the room didn't seem too clean. The AJC reports:
[Guest Carmen] Jones said she and her cousin checked into the 175 Piedmont Avenue hotel around 7 p.m. on July 31 after spending
San Juan: The Thompson Hotel San Juan Looks Pretty But Is Not Happening
A few years ago Thompson Hotels was rumored to be working on a Puerto Rico project with hotelier Jason Pomeranc slipping to Travel + Leisure that plans were in the works. But we haven't heard anything about this hotel for quite sometime. Until yesterday.
A reader emailed us about the renderings on the Studio Gaia website which we wrote up last March. (This is the same design firm where we found the renderings for Thompson Toronto as well.) So we decided we should probably check in on this hotel again.
Sadly, there's no good news here. The Thompson San Juan is not happening anytime soon according to our sources. There was a possibility
Baltimore: Fairfield Baltimore Offers Green Rooms for Labor Day Weekend
Eco-conscious travelers heading to Maryland over Labor Day weekend can bunk at Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott - Baltimore Inner Harbor, the city's first green hotel.
The limited-service Fairfield Inns aren't exactly the most exciting of Marriott's brands. But the Baltimore outpost tries to make itself stand out from the ho-hum hotels by monopolizing on its building, converted from a brewery, and adding a bar, and by going green.

Halifax: A Hotel With Its Own Train Station: The Westin Nova Scotian
See that classy red brick building in the center of the photo above? That's nothing other than the Westin Nova Scotian, well the back of it at least. This view is from the port, as we spent our brief tim in Halifax onboard a ship theremore on that tomorrowand yet we want to talk about the Westin and trains.
If you arrive to Halifax by train, by VIA Rail Canada to be more specific, then you'll be pulling into a station right next to the Westin Nova Scotian. You can even see it in this picture; it's the lower, lighter red brick building between Pier 21 and the large hotel.
St Austell: New Mums (and Sam Cameron), There's Room at the Inn at The Cornwall
You may thank Sam Cam for getting your mitts on a swanky bed like this
While Britain is still getting over the fact that the Prime Ministers wife, Samantha Cameron, had a baby yesterday (politicians having sexytime? Eww), and we personally are dealing with the fact that shes named it after the Cornish village we grew up in (St Endellion - cos she was on holiday there when she sprogged), expect the hotel contingency of Cornwall to rush out publicity-seeking tie-in deals immediately.
And sure enough, The Cornwall Hotel & Spa in Tregorrick, near St Austell, has been first to hop on the bandwagon.
Las Vegas: The Cosmopolitan in Las Vegas Now Belongs to Marriott's Autograph Collection
We knew that Marriott's little grouping of independent hotels, The Autograph Collection, was hard at work at acquiring some jazzier new properties but we had no idea that Las Vegas was on their radar. Yet as of today, The Cosmopolitan Resort and Casino, which doesn't open until December 15, is now an Autograph Collection member.
While we're shocked that a casino-hotel of this scale would join up with Marriott, this is a HUGE plus for Marriott Rewards members and Ritz-Carlton fans. Here's the scoop from the press release:
The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas will introduce a new category in the Autograph Collection and will be the brands largest property as well as the first casino
